Quicktime Export for Theatrical Screening

To export a print of your film for your screening with NewFilmmakers, YoungFilmmakers, or AltFest please follow these steps.

Select Export > Media from the File dropdown menu


Once in the Export Screen select Quicktime

Rename your file following the naming conventions "NameOfFilm_DirectorsName_ScreeningDate.mov" (Screening dates should be numerical as shown below)

Select the video tab and change the codec to H264

Make sure that your aspect ratio matches an accepted 1920 aspect.

Also check to make sure that the aspect is set to "Square Pixels"

Finally scroll to the bottom of the Video Tab and select Limit Data Rate and set it to 15,000

If you are exporting 5.1 surround sound select the Audio Tab select uncompressed audio and set the channels to 6 with the correct channel mapping (double check with sound editor)

Finally. Select Export and send the film using Dropbox or Google Drive to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Pierre Stefanos

Pierre’s credits include two Oscar-nominated HBO documentaries and three Emmy-winning television programs as an Editor, Associate Producer of the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards feature-nominee GAYBY, and has earned over 40 awards and nearly 200 Official Selections for his first two narrative shorts as a writer/director/producer, BEDFELLOWS and BRIGHTEN

Pierre has been invited onto multiple international film festival juries since 2012, including Red Rock International, Breckenridge Festival of Film, Cork Underground FilmFest, Queens World FilmFest, and the Oscar-qualifying Rhode Island International. The NewFilmmakers Fall 2015 LGBTQ Series will include diverse film selections from this year’s OutFest, Palm Springs ShortFest, Aspen ShortsFest, SXSW, and Rhode Island International film fests, featuring multiple NY-based filmmakers who will be attending their respective screenings this quarter.

Pierre looks forward to presenting the best LGBTQ films from around the world to the NFNY audience. Please join us this season and throughout 2016 as we celebrate new LGBTQ voices.
