The Three Tribes of Z Street is a dystopic “rock opera” set in a future when all music is illegal. I22XL3 is a young man who listens to his grandfather’s hidden vinyl records + fights alongside of the three rebel gangs seeking to liberate art and music from an oppressive ruling class. Drawing from such influences as agitprop, Pettibone, Haring, + Basquiat, Micah grafts a timelessly identifiable narrative. From simple black and white drawings, not quite anime or stop motion but falling somewhere in between, Micah defines and illuminates our common struggle to break out of whatever confines we are dealing with, be it art, class, race, or emotions.
